The City of Stockholm unifies to boost business and tourism

In a landmark move, the City of Stockholm is uniting to enhance its appeal for both businesses and tourists. From 2024, Invest Stockholm and Visit Stockholm will merge under the banner of Stockholm Business Region.

The restructure reflects the synergy between the business climate and tourism, demanding a more integrated strategy for promotion. The unified Stockholm Business Region will further develop the city’s position as a sustainable, creative and inclusive destination primed for visitors and business growth.

CEO of Stockholm Business Region Staffan Ingvarsson underscores the importance of close collaboration with local entities: "With Stockholm Business Region's new structure, we get a more efficient and powerful organization so that we can work together with the business community for a more competitive and attractive Stockholm region.”

The objective is to bolster long-term and strategic place branding, showcasing Stockholm as an internationally competitive and business-friendly city. Through promotion of the city’s innovative climate and its diverse array of companies, services and job opportunities, the company seeks to heighten Stockholm’s appeal to visitors, businesses, investors and talent.

A strong business climate and open communication between the public and private sectors are pivotal in advancing Stockholm’s green transition and integration. The city has witnessed significant investments and the establishment of new businesses driven by sustainability considerations. The vision is to solidify Stockholm’s reputation as a leading sustainable destination.

Staffan Ingvarsson retains his position as CEO of Stockholm Business Region. Caroline Strand, currently CEO of Visit Stockholm, will become Deputy CEO of Stockholm Business Region. The Board of Stockholm Businesses reached the decision on December 5, 2023, and the new organization will be implemented in 2024.
