Public services get the thumbs up

Business leaders and entrepreneurs have become more satisfied with public services in the Stockholm region, a new survey has revealed.

The customer satisfaction index (NKI), increased by one point to 67 (out of a maximum 100) this year compared to the last survey in 2009, and by four points compared with 2007.

The city's financial commissioner, Sten Nordin, said that the business environment is important for the region's competitiveness and businesses should be relatively straightforward to run.

"Quick service, good information and good cooperation are key words regardless of the case," he said in a statement. "It is encouraging that we continue to improve ourselves, but there is much left to do."

Fire control services scored highest in the survey, which polled some 19,000 companies, followed by handling of alcohol and catering licences, land lease and environmental inspections. Construction permits scored lowest.
